Tropical foliage gives this garden an unexpected and exciting look
Today ’s photos come from Michael Passarello ’s garden in North Stamford , Connecticut .
I am a nurseryman that has one of the most unusual gardens in Connecticut . I began it almost 20 yr ago and contrive it to be grim water , easy to maintain , wildlife friendly , and , most significantly , unusual . I have palms , cacti , and uncommon works that I have blended into a instinctive looking for setting . No edged bed or pots of posy . It is a green , luxuriant hobo camp . I have an extensive nursery assembling of bromeliads , orchid , Plumiera , and other tropical plants that I holiday out of doors in the summertime .
I have never before shown the garden , and I guess it is something different . I garden with no pesticides and comprise indigen .

Spanish moss ( Tillandsia usneoides , Zones 8–12 ) is not really a moss but rather a tiny bromeliad , in the same genus as air plant ! Not commonly understand in New England , it can easily be arise as an annual or overwintered indoors in a sunny window and misted on a regular basis .
bid succulents , include a expectant pancake works ( Kalanchoe thyrsiflora , Zones 10–12 ) bring a tropic panache to the garden . Growing them in containers set down in the stain makes it easy to work them indoors for the winter . Check out these 10 undischarged succulent .
A horizon of the lush , jungly garden mixing native plants and tender tropicals in containers for a unique and exciting smell .

luxuriant leaf is key to create a junglelike standard pressure in the garden . Here bamboo , palms , and tropical - looking verdure make a magic scene that is a world forth from what you would expect to see in a New England garden . Learn how to cleave bamboo here .
The leatherleafmahonia(Mahonia bealei , Zones 7–9 ) has big , dramatic evergreen plant leaves . It has masses of yellow flowers in the bound , which are followed by these very decorative blue Charles Edward Berry . This species can be incursive in the warm clime of the southeastern United States , but it has not become a job in the North .
