Turning a yard into a botanic garden
Today we ’re headed down to the warmth of Zone 8 and looking back at the beauty of this past spring with Caroline Williams . She has been toy with flower gardening for over 40 yr . Her Leslie Townes Hope for the future tense is to have her yard resemble a botanical garden . To be in the flower garden is like walking in the presence of God . You get to palpate peace , sit back , relax , and relish the blessings .
Containers of flowers mix with the colored backdrop of blooming azalea ( Rhododendronhybrid , Zones 7–10 ) .
Gorgeous spring peony ( Paeoniahybrid , Zones 3–8 ) . Peonies involve a period of cold temperature during the winter so as to grow and bloom well , so Zone 8 is about the warm lieu most of them can be successfully rise , and most will do well in Zones 7 and inhuman .

A lovely sword lily , which look to be one of theLouisiana chemical group of hybrid irises(Zones 4–9 ) . This group of irises is infer from hybrid between mintage native to the American Southeast , and they are enceinte choices for raging , humid climate where whiskered irises may sputter .
Cheery sess of colorfulannualsbring long - last color and smasher to the garden .
While many gardeners imagine ofamaryllis(Hippeastrumspecies and hybrids ) as tender houseplants , some of them are surprisinglywinter stalwart perennial . This is the old - fashioned hybridAmaryllis‘Johnsonii ’ , which is hardy in Zones 7–10 and may outlast in even cold gardens if given a sheltered spot . Its flowers are minor than those of the big hybrid unremarkably grow inside , but it more than make up for that with vigor and hardiness .

It ’s hard to beat the wonderful vine of a large - flowered clematis ( Clematishybrid , Zones 4–11 ) for absolute impact of bloom video display .
