As many as 30 people will get skills training to retrain them for jobs in the greenhouse sector as landscape and horticulture technicians . This is a new Community and Employer Partnerships ( CEP ) project from the Government of British Columbia . The Province is providing more than $ 500,000 to Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society ( PICS ) in Surrey to deliver skill and documentation course of instruction in two intakes of its Agricultural Workforce Transition Greenhouse Technician Training project .
Participants will receive 16 week of occupational and employability skills education , four weeks of local employment experience , and two hebdomad of take after - up supporting to help their occupation search .
Occupational training includes an creation to B.C. ’s Department of Agriculture and horticulture industriousness , greenhouse crop yield , hydroponics environmental dominance and monitoring , irrigation systems for greenhouses , agri - business principles , pest management , and pesticide app , and occupational wellness and safety .
