The native mountain chain ofCrassula barklyiis from near Port Nolloth to near Van Rhynsdorp in the southwestern parts of the Northern Cape state ofSouth Africa . It grows on aristocratical slopes , unremarkably covered with quartzite gravel , rarely consociate with larger rocks or rock outcrops .

Crassula barklyiis a gnome compact succulent with erect or seldom decumbent branch cover by overlap   leave forming a short , almost cylindrical column . It slowly grows up to 4 inches ( 10 centimetre ) tall , branching around the stand or lower part of stems . The young branches are almost spherical and look like grey - green rosebud .
