My name is Joanne Guerriero , and this is the garden create by my pappa , Donald King , long time 88.It ’s locate in Bucks County , Pennsylvania , a 6B zone .

Nineteen year ago when my parents ( Don and Barbara ) go into this domicile , there was a bit of structure in the backyard garden — a brickpatioand a smallpond .

Since then , Don has make a bit - wild , naturalistic , capricious surroundings that fills the railyard . Being friendly with a large local landscape painting designer give Don admittance to the business ’ “ combust pile ” made up of dying , damage , or otherwise dispose plants . More than 75 % of the garden ’s plantings Don nurtured back to health . They are recycled “ deliverance ” that were get rid of from other garden !

The garden is populated with perennial plants , flowers , and shrubs , and Don addsannualsfor color and interest . The garden is laid out invignettes , with sculpture , reimagined trash , structures he has built ( dry well and dry bed , outhouse , stone walls , bridges , walkway ) and recycled innate stuff dotting the landscape . It ’s a low - maintenance wonderland and my papa ’s pride .

Each year I create a monthly calendar made up of 12 garden photos and then partake copy with menage penis . We call it “ The Garden of the world-beater Calendar . ”

This is a lovely spot to sit and take in the garden , and it ’s a perfect changeover from agrassy lawnin a more sunny office to the moss lawn in more refinement .
