Gardening

I am growing a sh1 t tonne of works in the greenhouse ( I believe this is a accredit horticultural condition … ) , more than I can sensibly manage I carry , and we have n’t got to cuttings season yet .   What the heck am I going to do with them all ?   Should have thought about that before you   started all this extension occupation , I discover you say ?   You ’re probably correct .   However , my thoughts are turning now to how good to habituate the termination of my propagating action mechanism .   Or rather , which meek portion of those outputs will I have room for , and which can I use to best effect .

We have a modest sized suburban garden , stock event rectangle in shape , about 80′ by 35′ overall .   The pretty part , as opposed to the generative part , is about 30′ by 35′ all-inclusive , mostly laid to lawn with borders on all sides , see pic below .

The odd and right borders are about 4′ wide , the rear border are about 5′ all-encompassing and front borders which are hide behind the terrace , are just 2′ deep .   They could all benefit from being wider , but as you may recount from the climbing figure and trampoline , there are other stakeholder to consider . I ’ll manage with them the size they are , for now …

The foresightful perimeter on the left is in need of an renovation .   I ’d call it a re - innovation if there was any design done in the first place .   I ’m a mo of a magpie when it comes to choosing plants – I typically occur out from a garden heart and soul not quite knowing why I bought a plant ( more often plants ) nor where I ’m live to put them .   I just bung them in wherever there ’s a blank space , or at least seems to be .   I ’m going to take the chance to have a clearout of plants I do n’t appreciate , or that are n’t doing much , or do n’t add much interest .   I will be pitiless .   Without ruth , I say .   It is the gay border – the sun starts the daylight at the tail - rightfulness of the garden and give out back to the front through the day , so the left margin is in the sun pretty much the whole day .

It ’s a giant game of keep or chuck .   I intend to …

The estate.

Chuck :

It did n’t look too bad last twelvemonth , but more by luck than discernment .

The fanny - leave bed is also an opportunity , I think .   There are one or two highlights , but some need to go to the great shredder in the sky .

There is plenty of room for more interesting plant

Finally the small border at the front , next to the patio .   It is shallow at 2′ so not a peck of room for layers .

I may add a yoke of feet of depth to this boundary line , see if anyone notices …

Plenty of opportunity , should keep me busy .

summer 2016. The fence has since been replaced

I have a few recently gain book on planting schemes that I ’ll be using for research , so I ’ll be back with some sentiment on planting program for these borders .
