Education and beautiful plantings for a county fair
Jackie Stasevich sent in these photos of a great projection by her local group of Master Gardeners :
The Kalamazoo County Youth Fair in Michigan just wrap up , and our local Master Gardeners create some great garden to decorate the grounds and prepare the populace . Our Master Gardener group is wonderful and very talented .
When at a county fair , why not practice a tractor tyre as a cool container ? The combination of white petunias ( Petunia ×hybrida , one-year ) and a dark - leaved , yellow - blossom dahlia ( possiblyDahlia‘Mystic Illusion ’ , Zones 7–10 or as an yearly ) works beautifully .

Another good appropriate figure for a county fair .
Since this was a county juvenility fair , a mint of the planting were design to appeal to younger visitant . This creative planter made from flower pots for certain characterise , though I ’m very much an adult and I kind of want one , too !
Plants with animal names , like this zebra grass ( Miscanthus sinensis‘Zebrinus ’ , Zones 5–9 ) also appeal to kids .

Butterflies come for the ambrosia on the flowers of this butterfly stroke bush ( Buddleia davidii , Zones 5–9 ) are a way to get the attending of visitor to the garden and start up a word about gardening for pollinator .
Concrete and hardscaping can be a sturdy fix for a garden bed , as it will get very hot , and often all the hardscaping will send excessive amounts of piss into the layer whenever it rains . This big stand of cannas ( Cannahybrid , Zones 8–10 or as an annual ) is the perfect choice , as they will love the heat and are absolutely well-chosen to grow with wet metrical foot . The brilliant red efflorescence are also bright enough that everyone will detect and savor them , even when rush through a crowded county sightly .
