This Maine garden is still lovely enough for a wedding, even after a bit of snow
Today ’s exposure come from Harriet Robinson . She shared her beautiful garden with us several times before . This postshows some awe-inspiring before and after shots of creating her garden .
When my Word and his bride-to-be give me a month ’s notice that they wanted a pocket-sized nuptials in my westerly Maine garden on October 19 , I got to work pulling ugly daylily leaves and hoping the aster and other fall bloomers and the peony foliage would n’t disappoint this yr . I knew we ’d be a hebdomad past peak hardwood leafage , but I trust for the best . A little snowfall the twenty-four hours before and the frost that obliterate the annuals were minor challenge . I adopt two urns from a supporter to help represent the area . I grease one’s palms a distich of blueberry bush plants for them , the only affair the nursery had that look like it would fit a fall wedding ceremony ( evergreens are too Christmasy , as is winterberry ) , so that they could be planted at the mates ’s home later on . The sparse blueberry plants needed assistance from wild blueberry leaf and pine I cut from our battleground , as well as pelf maple leaves . The wedding 24-hour interval was absolved , with gorgeous view , and the aster and peony foliage did cooperate .
Asters and armillary ( they were behind the spousal couple ) .

The bride came down these stairs , string player were seated in the white iron chairs , and the guests put up on the cement terrace . The deck above provided balcony seating for elderly grandparents .
One of the urns .
Across to Mt. Washington on the wedding day .

These H2O features and the sundial were behind where the guests stood .
Persicaria Darjeeling ( Persicaria affinis‘Darjeeling Red ’ , Zones 3–9 ) with Charles Percy Snow . The bride and groom stood on the cement walk just behind and to its right hand .
