SixOnSaturday
Here we go again . This weekend has come around fast , a head trip to Vienna for work crack the workweek up nicely . It ’s set to be one of those fishy weekends weatherwise . It ’s going to be warm , but cloudy . But not nebulous in a utile way , with rainfall , just turbid . Six on Saturday then . Six thing , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a flower , a water feature article , wildlife , weeds , a plan , a business done , a harvesting , anything at all . Join in !
Here are my Six .

1 – Penstemon ‘ Patio Wine ’ . I bought this works a few long time ago and it has survived the wintertime each prison term . This year it seems to be thriving . All the flowers you’re able to see are on the same plant . I took clipping last twelvemonth and have a few offspring dot around the place .
2 – Veronica , or speedwell . I grow a few of these from seed a couple of eld ago . They were the straggly , badly looked after plants I never get around to pot on . They sulked on plant out , never really doing anything . Until now ! The plant seem to have bulked out quite a bit , and where there was antecedently one or two half hearted flower stanch , now there are many . Literally , a former bloomer .
3 – Clematis ‘ Blue Angel ’ . One of many planted along the gay fenceline a duet of years ago . Last twelvemonth this did n’t produce more than about 5 flowers . This year there are many more . I was not intending them to intermingle with the neighbouring ‘ Mme Julia Correvon ’ but she is a sprawler . They bet quite nice together , I think . hop for even more from Blue Angel next year .

4 – Hypericum ‘ Magical Universe ’ . Bought on a sojourn to Waterperry last October , in something of a blind works - purchasing frenzy . You recognize how it goes sometimes , the crimson mist descend , rime and reason go out the window . It is a small bush , allegedly well behave . Doubling down on my impulse purchase , I took cutting , and now have two more of them knocking about . It will flower then exit glossy crimson berries behind .
5 – Ceanothus . For years I tried to propagate from a big ceanothus shrub / tree in my garden , fail every time . I want one to check against the wall in the side alley . Frustrated by my unfitness to do this I just bought one . It is still little , and a bit strong-arm by the vigorous rose with which it shares container outer space . It has grown on quite nicely and has several right stem develop in useful directions . When I prune the blush wine etc back I ’ll be able to groom this into the wires the right way . It is flowering now , as you may see . A hoverfly was flitting about as I took the picture . I tried to include it in the photo with the flowers but it would n’t stay still long enough .
6 – Penstemon ‘ Husker Red ’ . Grown from semen a duo of years ago , these have done well . For some reason they are all in the front garden , so something about those atmospheric condition agrees with them . The root and the leaves are red ( reddish at any pace ) , hence the name , but the flowers are almost saturated white . I ’m not certain I care them that much , if I am stuck for space for nicer plant I may well comprehend these up and move them on to another home .

Have a mythic horticulture weekend , do n’t forget to check back in during the mean solar day as more links get added .
I ’ll be back next weekend with another # SixOnSaturday .
