When it come to creating a place that raise feel of ease and peace , famed British designerJohn Pawsonseems to have mastered the artistic production . Hiscountry homenestled in the rolling mound of rural England is a freshly converted land the three estates — ably nameHome Farm — that dates back more than 400 age , to 1610 . The clothes designer is known for his key signature minimalism and pay careful attention to every plan decision on the property — even down to source felled Elm trees for the kitchen floors to compliment the original timber elements .
The designer took on this massive restoration and restoration project with his wife , Catherine , who studied at the Inchbald School of Design and Colefax and Fowler . Instead of paint walls and ceilings , the Pawsons prefer for lime plaster , which leave a sonant , almost suede effect to the tidy spaces . The simple lines and mare’s nest - free aesthetic create a welcoming atmosphere that allow the couple , their two sons , and their guests to palpate right at nursing home .
The 24 - acre property is home plate to barns , sheds , an honest-to-god farmhouse , and a hayloft . And while all of the construction were all a little different , Pawson used humble materials include brick , endocarp , wood , stainless steel , and lime wash to create his theme song harmonious style .
