Mike and Rachel Gooder , owner of Plantpeddler Inc , Cresco , IA . , receive the 2023 " Iowa State University Outstanding Horticulture Alumni of the Year " prize during the Annual Alumni banquet held on Wednesday eve , April 6 , 2023 .

The Gooder ’s were very prestigious to accept the award and sincerely yours value the recognition from their alma mater , ISU . Mike ’s first words back to our team at Plantpeddler were , " Pretty humbling . Thanks to all of you for help us live this dream . " That is how they roll , always thankful and not just for us but for everyone who has help them build up the business and living in Horticulture .
A few limited carbon monoxide - Horts from ISU had these word to say , " Mike and Rachel swear out as shining instance of people who got their starting at ISU , and from those roots , they ’ve grown and nurtured an amazing syndicate commercial enterprise . Successful business people , potent supporters of our industry , and now are chip in back by helping others do the same . All of us are called upon to help oneself the next generation , and Mike and Rachel embody that spirit of giving back . " I have known Mike and Rachel Gooder for over 25 years . They are champion in the industry . The Gooder ’s are implemental in training our student on internship at Plantpeddler . They give back to our scholar by donating industrial plant textile to the horticulture club for task and sale . Mike and Rachel are also passionate about helping our agriculture educator around the state learn young people about plants in their school nursery . I ca n’t think of two better people that could be recognized as Outstanding Department of Horticulture Alumni . We are proud they are in our Horticulture Family !
